Q. What are these chips and what they do?

A. These chips are memory devices called EPROM.  They contain and hold the program that will be run in your engine's computer (ECCS).  These chips, are modified on their programming so the engine can deliver more horsepower and torque than it currently would when programmed from factory.  The new program will command the computer to deliver more fuel and advance the ignition timing to optimum levels, to increase pressure before and after combustion cycle at a specific time.  The base programs for these chips are similar to specific manufacturers (JWT, JET [who charge $600], and readjusted for optimum performance).

Q. Are these chips vehicle or application specific?

A. Yes.  They will work great with the models listed in the auction, but they won't work for other models, even if they are similar.

Q. Where is my computer located?

A. Nissan installs their computers in one of two places inside the car; (1) beneath the carpet near the passenger's side foot rest area (98% of cars) or (2) drivers side foot rest area.

Q. What about installation of this chip?, Is it easy? What is involved on it?

A. Yes, it's pretty easy, we include detailed instructions on how to install this chip

Q. Why I don't see chips listed here for 1996 and later models?     Asked very often !  

A. The reason for this is because models form 1996 and up, don't use a replaceable chip like the one in this auction.  In those models, the program is embedded inside the micro controller (MCU) itself, making it very difficult to modify. *NOTE* there is hope for you, contact us for more info.

Q. Why is at least 91 octane gas needed?

A. These chips will increase the fuel delivery at the injectors and advance the ignition timing accordingly, in order to produce optimum power.  That will increase the combustion chamber pressure and temperature, before and after the combustion cycle.  Low grade gas, such as 87 and 89 octane, will tend to detonate on those engine conditions.  That means that it will actually go to combustion before the ignition spark is delivered.  When these detonations occur, you will notice because the engine will produce a sharp pinging sound, also known as knocking.  Detonations, should be avoided since it may damage the engine.  All that, is avoided by using at least 91 octane gas (Pump gas using the [R+M] / 2 method).

Q. Will fuel mileage be affected in some way?

A. Yes, but only under hard acceleration conditions (stepping on the gas pedal more than half of its way down).  On this condition, gas consumption will increase around 15%, theoretically. Remember only when you mash the gas pedal. to increase HP you need to increase air/fuel.

If saving gas is your first priority just put your stock chip back in on the weekdays and use your modified chip on weekends :) its a  matter of plugging and unplugging chips.

Q. Can I  use this chip in Turbo or Nitro applications or larger injectors?

A. Yes, but please tell us what mods you have or are planning to have when you order your chip. (eg. t3/to4e turbo 15psi max 555cc injectors)
